.Dear Madam/Sir

You are invited to participate in my survey 'Sustainable Development in England'.

In this survey, selected actors from the building industry will be asked to complete a survey that asks questions about sustainable development in England, focusing on the issue of climate change, renewable energy and energy efficiency. It will take less then 15 minutes to complete the questionnaire, which consists of 31 questions.

This survey forms part of my master of science thesis (MSc Real Estate) for The University of Hong Kong with the title:

'Sustainable Development - Between State Policy and Private Interest'.

The objective of this thesis is to compare and contrast the state framework provided by the government (i.e. building regulations, planning system), its perception by the building industry and the building industry's own approach to the issues of sustainable development as part of their 'Corporate Social Responsibility'.

The survey is split into four parts. In the first part a general 'company profile' is to be completed. The second section focuses on the revised 2006 building regulations 'Part L & F' followed by a part on the planning system, namely PPS22 and on-site renewables. The last part asks general question on sustainable development, CSR and its implementation.

Should a question not apply to your company or your business, please feel free to skip it and move on to the next question. Should you not be able to finish the survey in one go, it should be able to continue from the point you left off, if the same computer is being used.

Your participation in this study is very much appreciated and there are no risks associated with this project. Your survey responses will be strictly confidential and data from this research will be reported only in the aggregate. Your information will be coded and will remain confidential.

Should you experience difficulties please look in the FAQ and/or contact me.
